Have you heard of KidZui? It’s a child friendly web browser. I must admit that I heard about it , glanced at it, enrolled in it, and then proceeded to forget about it. I just haven’t had the time to really examine it and put it into action. However, now is the time for all of us to get to know it better so we can help our kids enter the Kid Zui video contest! Here’s what they have written about it on their blog site…

In a recession filled with “No’s” finding a “Yes!” for children.
During this time of economic uncertainty and desperation one word has become a frequent fixture in children?s lives, ?no?. Our children are hearing it from us all the time. ?No? you can?t have that toy, ?No? we can?t afford that camp this year, ?No? there isn?t enough money for a new outfit today. Our children are hearing ?no? so often they are beginning to forget what the word ?yes? means.

Dear Campbells Soup Company, Miss Lori’s wants you!
Last week Campbells Soup Company announced that they are adding 2 new flavors to their V8 V-Fusion line, Goji Raspberry and Passionfruit Tangerine. Now I was never a big fan of V8 juice growing up. I found it to taste like spicy tomato sauce. Plus I always associated it with the bloody mary?s I heard about on some of my parents TV shows. Then when I became an adult there was V8 Splash. That didn?t make sense to me with all of the sugar. But low and behold a few years ago V8 V-Fusion came on the scene, and finally I had a drink to smile about. V8 V-Fusion is a tasty option for me to hydrate and nourish myself on the go. I say “on the go” because that is when I need it most, when I am running through my day and don?t have a lot of time to stop and make good food choices. Each 8-ounce glass provides a full serving of vegetables (1/2 cup) and a full serving of fruit (1/2 cup), plus essential antioxidant vitamins A, C and E. It is so helpful to keep the 12 ounce bottles with me so that I can get a pick me up in between meals. PROBLEM SOLVED.
Now that?s for me, the adult, but what about me the parent.

And They All Fall Down; The domino effect of children and the recession
Dominoes are a great children?s game. Although when I was a kid I never new how to play it by the rules, but I used to love to line them up and watch the snaking patterns topple over one by one. That was fun! However, watching the domino effect of today?s failing economy is not. This recession isn?t childs? play, but children are certainly at the heart of it. Children are innocent of any blame for our current predicament, and yet they will shoulder most of the burden from the vestiges of this recession for years to come.
This week SV Mom Blogers across the Nation and in Canada had a unique opportunity to converse with the face of CBS Nightly News, Katie Couric. She told us about the new CBS series Children of the Recession, and how this unprecedented coverage came about. She said it was Dr Irwin Redliner, co-founder of the Children?s Health Fund, who first approached her about doing a network wide report about children and how they are affected by the recession. She was immediately hooked on the idea and went straight to Sean McManus, head of CBS. Sean gave the green light and the network was off and running.

Miss Lori talks about being a healthy role model
Morning All,
I am working everyday at being a healthier role modelfor my children and other people?s children. I say working because I believe it to be one of the jobs that I have as a parent. The most important element is communication?constant communication, because ideas are fluid and repetition is important. I encourage you to talk openly with kids about the food choices you are making both in their presence and out.
Morning thoughts from Miss Lori
Morning has come, the dawn has broken. I stare out my window in search of a token of love and light from the gods above. I look out my window searching for love. What will today bring is there something to find? A path untaken. A new rhyme to rhyme. Will the steps that I walk lead me somewhere unknowing? Will the breath that I take leave my cheeks a glowing? What does this morning promise? What can I take to the bank? What, I ask what, and who will I thank?

Brownies with Wheat Germ a Mother’s Day recipe.
When I was growing up my Mother used to make Brownies with Wheat Germ. She said it was her job to slip in the good stuff when we weren?t looking. The thing is the brownies didn?t taste that much different, but as kids we always over reacted to change, even just the thought of it. But I got used to her ways and grew to really appreciate them. Another specialty of hers was Mama Muffins filled with nutrients. She would send them in care packages to me at college, and my classmates would line up in anticipation of their arrival. Eureka! Now I am the parent. I must admit I am not much of a baker, but I still try and employ my mother?s loving philosophy.
