Last week Campbells Soup Company announced that they are adding 2 new flavors to their V8 V-Fusion line, Goji Raspberry and Passionfruit Tangerine. Now I was never a big fan of V8 juice growing up. I found it to taste like spicy tomato sauce. Plus I always associated it with the bloody mary?s I heard about on some of my parents TV shows. Then when I became an adult there was V8 Splash. That didn?t make sense to me with all of the sugar. But low and behold a few years ago V8 V-Fusion came on the scene, and finally I had a drink to smile about. V8 V-Fusion is a tasty option for me to hydrate and nourish myself on the go. I say “on the go” because that is when I need it most, when I am running through my day and don?t have a lot of time to stop and make good food choices. Each 8-ounce glass provides a full serving of vegetables (1/2 cup) and a full serving of fruit (1/2 cup), plus essential antioxidant vitamins A, C and E. It is so helpful to keep the 12 ounce bottles with me so that I can get a pick me up in between meals. PROBLEM SOLVED.
Now that?s for me, the adult, but what about me the parent.
I can certainly use V8 V-Fusion at home, but that?s not where it is most needed for my children. I need it on the go. When I have my 12ounce V8 V-Fusion bottles in the van, my children drink them. That makes me very happy. But that euphoria is short lived once I find my car now littered with half consumed V8 V-Fusion bottles. I feel my pocketbook leaking. I can?t water my plants with the remainder of the juice like I do with water bottles, all I can do is pour it down the drain and listen to the faint jingle of my change washing away.
So, this morning I have a request for the Campbells Soup Company, makers of V8 V-Fusion, please make your product available in juice box size! For those of you who know me well you know that I am always pushing children to drink water. Hydration is a key element to good health and people in general aren?t drinking enough water. But at this time of the year when all of the outdoor sports games are being played, and I am hauling truck loads of snacks to every event, I want a better choice. When I go to Costco, instead of buying my old stand by, apple juice, I would like to have the option to buy a carton of V8 V-Fusion juice boxes.
All of the statistics tell us that children are not getting the recommended number of cups of vegetables everyday. Researchers at Ohio State University, after studying over 6500 children as a part of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, concluded that children and adolescents should be the target for nutrition interventions designed to increase their daily fruit and vegetable consumption. Thus, as parents we need to find ways to get veggies into their diet, sometimes when they aren?t looking. I live by my mother?s philosophy of ?brownies with wheat germ,?everything can have a little something hidden inside of it for nourishment. V8 V-Fusion is exactly that, nourishment hidden in a tasty package. So Campbells Soup Company, help a mother out! Instead of my continuing to buy your 12 ounce bottles that my children waste half of, if you give me a juice box size not only will I reduce waste, I will improve my children’s health. Help me do right by my kids and the kids in my neighborhood. Bring on the V8 V-Fusion Juice Boxes!
PROBLEM SOLVED.
SMILE On!
