Miss Lori says always carry a healthy snack and a book in the Minivan!

It is November! Hard to believe it. I don’t know about you, but for me, that means a lot more time spent in my minivan! So I have to make sure that I have the tools to help my kids and I make the most of our time in “captivity”. I always joke that if, God forbid, we were forced off fo the road, we would be able to survive for quite some time on scraps alone. LOL.  But the truth is I work very hard to make sure that my Minivan is packed with food and supplies. That way our time spent traveling is not in vain. Here is a list of some of my go-to favorites.

1.Books on CD and in paperback

2.A cooler with healthy snacks; including cut carrots, turkey jerky, apples, pears, yogurt, cheese stix, individual tubs of peanut butter, Muscle Milks, yogurt, water, uncrustables, Pirate Booty, craisins, and of course water. (I also carry protein drinks for myself. My two fav company’s USANA and Suzanne Somers.)

3.Pencils, crayons, scissors and glue stick to complete homework.

4.Sharpie, because there is always something that needs a name put on it.

5.Blanket and pillow, because catching some zzz’s is a great idea for busy, on the go kids.

6.Paper and envelopes for writing school notes, (and long overdue thank you notes).

7.If you are blessed with a car entertainment system, make sure to bring a stash of universally agreeable DVDs.

8.Of course if you have animated children like mine I strongly suggest bringing your personal video recorder, like my Kodak Zi6, and a digital camera like my little Sony Cybershot. In the Minivan is a great time to catch some off the cuff comments from your kids about everyday life.

9.And of course, if you are Musing like me, be sure to bring your technology, including car power adapters for a continuous charge.

I would love to hear some of your favorite Minivan tools for making the most of your travel time. Share your tips with us all. remember, it takes a village.

SMILE On!
