The economy has hit many of us right between the eyes this year and deep into our wallets this holiday season. So many people are struggling, trying to find a away to keep the cheer in the holiday especially for their children. I have encountered many parents who feel ashamed of their predicament. Well, I am here to tell them that they are not alone, and neither are you. There is no shame in struggling. Let’s lift the veil of secrecy so we can stand side by side and help each other. Because no matter our circumstances there is always something that we can do for someone else. And in giving away, we gain so very much. Our hearts swell, our souls lift, and we feel powerful in a time of powerlessness. We all need that. Me too.
My family has experienced some very real trouble this year. I lost my job, and thus lost our health insurance. My youngest daughter has been suffering with an as yet to be diagnosed mystery illness that has enlarged her pancreas. The medical bills have become staggering. And a few other personal pitfalls have befallen my family as well. But at the same time I have been blessed. Blessed with the love and support of a television and social media community who has instilled their trust in me and my edutainment. I have also been blessed by corporations who have shared their products with me, and thus are making it possible for my children to have presents under the tree.
I do not take those blessings lightly. And so I intend to pay that good fortune forward, to you, my readers and followers. For the rest of this week I am going to give, and give, and give away, as much as I can find, to help others out there who need a hand and a smile. All you have to do is comment on each post for a chance to win. Enter as many times as you like. Each winner will receive a prize for themselves, and a second one to giveaway, so that we can continue to pay forward good fortune.
There is no shame in our economic predicaments. There need not be any secrets. We are all in this together. And TOGETHER we shall hold each other up to meet another day head on!
