Miss Lori is going to LA to sit on bleachers and look at the stars!

I have been an actress since I was a child. So of course award ceremonies have always been a great source of fascination and fantasy. None more so than the Oscars TM. Singing into my hairbrush, and then practicing my acceptance speech in the mirror for my great movie musical starring role debut, was common place in my bedroom growing up.  3 decades, 3 children and what sometimes feels like 3 lifetimes later, my theatrical career has been a strong one, but didn’t lead to the movies. Instead the path I have walked has been rooted in live performance and interaction, with a sprinkling of television. I am very proud of what I have achieved thus far, and hopeful about what I have yet to achieve in the future. And yet still when awards season comes around I get a little twinge, a slight longing for what might have been. But not this year, because this year KodakTM the memory making company is giving me a chance to get just a little closer to my childhood dream. As close as the Red Carpet Bleachers! I have been selected as one of the 11 bloggers to represent Kodak and you, the people, on the Oscar TM Red Carpet Bleachers, March 7, 2010. I will be armed and ready to blog, tweet update and text as fast as my little fingers will let me, all day long, until the very last star disappears into the Kodak Theatre Oscar night. Then I will join my fellow Bleacher Bloggers over at the El Capitan restaurant to watch the ceremony, like the rest of the World, on television. It may not be a nomination, but it is still a dream come true. It’s my MOMENT and I get to SHARE it with you! I’m going to the Oscars! THANK YOU KODAK. This memory is going to be priceless!

SMILE On!

This is a level 7 post

In anticipation of my trip I have a wish/check list. I’m not usually quite so bold, but I have  only 12 days before I leave, and quite a few things that I need to get to do this event right. So, if you have a product or service listed here please contact me about sponsorship, PR and review potential.

Miss Lori’s Oscar Wish/Check List

  • Extra SD cards for my Kodak Zi6. (Because there will be so many MOMENTS worth capturing!)
  • Extra rechargeable batteries for my Kodak Zi6
  • New digital camera with a serious zoom, complete with batteries SD cards and a case. (Unfortunately a little fan knocked both my Sony Cybershot and my Sony Handy cam off of my merchandise table at my concert last week and now neither are working properly).
  • Extra Battery for my old  ATT Tilt phone so I can tweet, text and call all daylong from the bleachers. (No I haven’t made the move to iphone yet. Yes, I know I’m practically the only one. No, I don’t like being left out.)
  • A better ATT/MAC/PC compatible aircard. (Because the one I have is terribly unreliable!)
  • Extra battery for my macbook
  • Slim case for my Dell Netbook (Yes, I am considering bringing both computers! Netbook has such a short battery life.)
  • A realistic, but SNAZZY outfit to be worn on the bleachers Oscar day, including a trench coat. (Just in case.)
  • Some really FANTASTIC shoes. (Because an outfit is nothing without spectacular footwear. Especially when your feet are a size 12!)
  • Red lipstick. (Because the Oscar’s deserves nothing less.)
  • Some Oscar worthy sunglasses. (Because all of the stars on the red carpet will be so radiant that it will get blinding at times.)
  • A light on weight, big on space, wheeled carry on bag to get me from Chicago to LA in efficiently and in style.
  • New Miss Lori’s CAMPUS business cards to hand out to all of my new bleacher friends!
  • An LA worthy, roomy satchel to carry all of my Oscar Bleacher accoutrement. (IE my computer, my phone, my cameras, my water bottle, my energy snacks and of course my red lipstick!)

Have a wonderful time!! Can’t wait to see if I can “see” you in the bleachers! I didn’t get the chance to introduce myself at Disney, but here’s a virtual wave to you! :-)
