This is a very special, pivotal week for me. Last week I summoned up the courage to throw my hat in the ring for the first #Mamavation program of the year. This week, as a finalist, I have to step out of my comfort zone again and ask people for votes. It’s all worth it, because already I feel as though I am a winner. ( But you can make it really real by voting for me. Click here please!) I have had so much fun in the last few days alone communicating with the fantastic #mamavation community. Everyone is so supportive. The best part is, they get it. They get how hard it is to carve out time when house, work and of course kids demand all of it. They get that eating healthy is a desire, but not always a practical reality. I don’t have to hide with these women, or feel ashamed if I am only able to squeeze in 5 mins on my stepper. They are proud of me for trying, because they get it.
I have been snot filled and exhausted all year so far, but nevertheless when @bookieboo tweeted out yesterday that we should run in place kicking our own buts for 60 seconds, four times in a row, I lept out of bed and did it. It was such a crazy act that it inspired my 9year old to go throw on her workout clothes too. And together we kicked our buts..and then we did some squats… and then we threw in some curls for good measure. It’s contagious. Afterwards I felt so successful, and that is an amazing feeling.
So with this post today, whether I am honored to be chosen as one of the two #Mamavation Moms for the first quarter of 2011 or not, I am here to tell you that I’m all in. I pledge to be a Sista. Not just any Sista, a #Mamavation Sista; the most loving and supportive kind. On with the Mamavation Sistahood!
SMILE On!
