Miss Lori and IL Governor Pat Quinn want you to experience the future in the Nissan Leaf electric car

The future is bright …with electricity! This weekend in Chicago you and your family can drive toward the future in the new Nissan Leaf 100% electric car. Not only is it 100% electric, it’s 95% recyclable. Yes, 95%! The seats are made from recycled water bottles for example!  I can tell you from personal experience that they are so comfortable. But truly the whole car is comfortable. Such a smooth and quiet ride.

Not just smooth, but fast. The Nissan Leaf can drive up to 90mph. Not too shabby. And it so easy to take care of. The only fluid in the car is the windshield wiper fluid. Makes maintenance super easy. The goal is that just like your body the Nissan Leaf only needs a check up once a year!

The Nissan Leaf will travel up to 100miles on a full charge. A full charge takes about 3hours. For most people all they will need to do is charge the car up at home overnight. But for others traveling more often there are already over 280 charging stations for electric vehicles throughout Chicago, with plans for double that in the coming months. Just in time for the delivery of the 2012 Nissan Leaf to Illinois, a full year ahead of schedule. Which makes Illinois Governor Pat Quinn very happy. He wants Illinois to be a leader in electric vehicle use.

The Nissan Leaf is innovation that can’t be ignored. But if you live in Chicago you don’t just have to take my word for it, you can drive the Nissan Leaf for yourself at the #DriveLeaf event in the parking lot of the Chicago Field Museum, 1400 S. Lake Shore Drive. Your family can experience this amazing technology first hand with interactive displays, test drives and more. Friday and Saturday from 9am – 8pm, and Sunday from 10am-4pm.

The Nissan Leaf may be in Chicago this weekend, but it’s on it’s way to city’s all across the country very soon. In the next few months Nissan will start taking reservations for Leaf purchase in Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington, as well as in Washington, D.C.
