If you are a frequent reader of my blog, or a frequent attendee at my concerts, you know that I am on a mission to get children and their families hydrated. Well, I am not alone on this quest, Whirlpool is right alongside with me. They recognize the value of good clean filtered water in a healthy life plan. Whirlpool was concerned by a 2011 report released by the National Center for Health Statistics which cited that more than half of Americans consume sugary drinks on a daily basis. So in January 2012 they challenged their consumers to “drink up to slim down” as a New Year’s resolution. Drinking filtered water can increase your health while simultaneously decreasing your grocery bill. Changing from bottled to filtered water can save you up to $600 a year. That’s not even counting the money you will save from giving up those sugary drinks, (and extra trips to the dentist for fillings)!
However, even good ideas can get derailed. Whirlpool knows that the hustle and bustle of everyday life can throw any good person off track. That’s why they are checking in and checking up on us all to see how we are doing with the resolution. I assured them that my community is right on course, and I made a video to prove it.
We all can benefit from a reminder about the importance of water in our lives. I provide just such a reminder at all of my conferences. I even build in hydration breaks. I am encouraged by the many parents I meet who are stepping up on behalf of their families by taking care of their own health.
We have to lead by example for our kids. They need to know that no matter what age you are you can live an active and healthy life, one glass of water at a time.
Join me this Wednesday July 11, 2012 from 6-7pm CST for a Whirlpool #FilterFresh Twitter party. We will talk fitness health and of course hydration. Plus Whirlpool will be giving away a brand new refrigerator with a water filtration system plus other great prizes. All to help you do better by and for your family. RSVP today and together we will trim our waistline and our budgets.
