Saturday was the first official day of Fall and today was the first Monday that all three of my kids went to school at the same time this 2012/2013 school year. How can that be when it’s September 24th?! Well, my son is in private school so he started back in August while my daughter’s were still on Summer vacation. My girls started school on the Tuesday after Labor Day, but four days later they were out again because of the Chicago Teachers Strike. They didn’t return to school until last Wednesday, but it wouldn’t have mattered anyway because last Monday my son fell ill and was out all week with a virus. So, when my girls went back to school Wednesday after the ten day strike I still had one child home. But finally, this morning, the stars aligned perfectly so that I could deliver all three of my kids to school healthy and ready to learn. Whew! What a journey!
Given that this was the first official Monday of Fall, and essentially my childrens’ school year, I wanted to make sure that they got the best kickstart possible for their day. Just like my father did for me growing up I made my children orange juice concotions to hydrate their day. You see, when I was a kid my father would take frozen orange juice concentrate, squeeze it into a blender, add only half of the water and mix it, assuring that it would be extra frothy and potent. It was delicious even if it wasn’t particularly fresh or natural. Luckily for my kids they can have something much fresher than I did thanks to Tropicana Pure Premium.
So whether I am blending an orange, peach and banana smoothie with Tropicana Pure Premium orange juice cubes for my youngest ,
or mixing a “Bloody Red” drink for my eldest daughter with ice cold Tropicana Pure Premium Orange Juice and cranberry juice cocktail,
or just a tall glass of cold Tropicana Pure Premium orange juice for my equally tall and cool son,
I know that my kids are drinking something good for them that will help to arm them nutritionally for their day. Best of all while Tropicana Pure Premium is arming my kids it isn’t costing me an arm and a leg.
At about 50 cents per 8-ounce glass, Tropicana Pure Premium orange juice has no added sugar and provides:
· Two fruit servings*
· A day’s supply of vitamin C to help support a healthy immune system
· As much potassium as a medium banana, which plays an important role in heart health
· A natural source of the B-vitamin folate, which helps with cell development (especially important for pregnant women).
· A good source of thiamin, which is essential in energy metabolism, and plays an important role in nerve and muscle function
Tropicana Pure Premium is a great addition to my children’s diet. (It would be great for me too if only they would leave some for me to drink!)
But don’t just take my word for it, pour a glass of Tropicana Pure Premium Orange Juice and taste the difference yourself. Be sure to let me know what you think.
