Getting media savvy with Miss Lori at Pitch Refinery and beyond

Miss Lori offers 5 tips for giving birth to an idea in the social media age

Today I am giving a media training presentation and workshop at the inaugural Pitch Refinery Conference (#MissLoriTV). Media training has become increasingly important in this climate of invention and entrepreneurship. Social Media is a great equalizer allowing the individual proprietor to reach a community as easily as a big brand does without being hampered by a small promo and advertising budget. Sweat beading on my forehead I didn’t back down. I swallowed hard and stepped up to the plate. (The hot plate that is.) [Read more…]

If Miss Lori does not fear math neither will her kids

When you hear MATH what words come to mind? Hard? Scary? Impossible? Now stop and think about it, do you use those words in front of your kids? Look, I’m not here to make you feel bad. This is not one of those Mom guilt posts, this is actually about a parenting revelation I had when I was at Blogher this past weekend.

I had the pleasure of attending a breakfast hosted by Texas Instruments’ Calculators. Now, I will tell you what I know about scientific calculators…they are on the back to school supply list for my eldest children. Period. Yup that’s all I’ve got. Well, that’s all I had. [Read more…]
