Miss Lori thinks we are all responsible for the sexualization of children like Isabella Barrett from Toddlers and Tiaras

I purposely have stayed away from the show Toddlers and Tiaras because, well frankly, I know my head would just explode if I watched even one scene. But my friend Kris Cain, aka @LittleTechGirl sent me a press notice about interview availability with Dr Tim Kimmel, of FamilyMatters.net, to talk about protecting girls from negative media influences. Now such a topic is exactly as Kris said in her email to me, “right up my alley”. I am always on my soap box protesting the sexualization of children. But the reason this particular media alert was going out right now is because of a 30 million dollar lawsuit that the mother of Isabella Barrett, (apparently a famous contestant on TLC’s Toddlers and Tiaras), filed against TMZ, The Huffington Post and Daily Mail Online for sexualizing her 5 year old daughter. Miss Lori offers Roland Martin some tweet suggestions after homophobic Superbowl gaffe

On Superbowl Sunday there was a lot of commentary filling the airwaves and the social media sphere. Not talking about the game, talking about the ads. They had everyone a quiver. Some more than others, and that was cause for concern and correction according to a tweet posted by Roland S. Martin. After watching an H&M ad featuring a barely dressed David Beckham, Martin tweeted: [Read more...]

Miss Lori wishes Washington would emulate the teamwork of our American troops

YouTube Preview Image

Last night during the state of the union address by the President I was particularly moved by his talk about the unified mission of our troops regardless of their race, creed, political affiliation or sexual origin. How, in order to carry out their missions, they know that they have to trust one another and have each other’s backs at all times. That makes sense to me, I only wish our government worked that way. Miss Lori isn’t giving youtube Klout to hate

If you are on social media or listening to any news program, in the Chicagoland area in particular, you have probably heard about the viral youtube video of a 17 year old boy being savagely beaten and robbed by a gang of teens in the Bridgeport area. It got millions of views before youtube pulled it down…TWICE. I was not one of those millions of views. (However, I do applaud the people who watched and immediately reported the video to the police.) [Read more...]

Miss Lori lists her top five favorite quotes from Martin Luther King Memorial Dedication

I drove with my kids from our home in Chicago to Washington DC to attend the martin Luther King JR Memorial Dedication.
