I remember growing up hearing my parents and their friends talk about where they were when John F. Kennedy was shot, and when Martin Luther King Jr marched on Washington. They were just words for me. Miss Lori honors all who serve this Memorial Day

I live as though I have no choice, in a time when choices abound.

I stay steady upon my course, while others move around.

I watch over people closely for they know not always what they need.

I do before I am asked. Anticipate, then exceed.

I swear my oath to freedom, make sacrifice my life,

so we all can live in peace, not ridiculed by strife.

I stand up, not with a gun to my head.

I stand up, proud with duty instead.

For if it’s got to be did, it’s got to be done.

No place to hide. No time to run.

I serve at the will of the people,

and consider this hallowed ground.

For it’s by the people, for the people,

that I am duty bound. [Read more...]
