Miss Lori is lucky to have had the Chrysler Town and Country to rely on in a pinch
Here’s a question, how much do you rely on your car? No, I don’t mean how much do you use it, I mean how much do you rely on it. You see I don’t just use my cars to get around, I rely on them to help me get my work, play and family life taken care of in an economical fashion. [Read more...]
Miss Lori wonders if she is truly an SUV Mama in the 2011 Dodge Durango
Earlier this week I wrote about my experience with the 2011 Dodge Caravan. It felt like home because I have been driving a minivan for the last 8 years. It was a fabulous vehicle, though it would be so much better if it was a hybrid! (Just sayin’!) But even with all of that I don’t know if at heart I am a Minivan Mom or…an SUV Mama! So I got behind the wheel of the 2011 Dodge Durango to discover my true nature. [Read more...]
Miss Lori debates whether she is a Minivan Mom or an SUV mom. First the Dodge Caravan
As you know the title of my blog is Musings from my Minivan. If you follow me even a little you know that most of my life is spent in a vehicle. Between my three children, my concert tours, and my social media events my but is permanently formed to the shape of a car seat. Which is why finding the right car to fit my lifestyle, (and my backside for that matter), is so vitally important. My last three cars have been Chrysler Town and Country minivans, used. (Because I worked for PBS not Disney!). [Read more...]
Miss Lori offers 8 tips to keep your kids safe at big events Like The Chicago Auto Show
The Chicago Auto Show is an event that I look forward to every year. I have been taking my kids to it since they were in the womb, literally. I attended my first first look for Charity Chicago Auto Show event when I was pregnant with my first child. Now that’s a lot of firsts. One first associated with the Auto Show for me is the first, (and only) time my eldest daughter ever got lost was at the Chicago Auto Show. She was just 4 years old. [Read more...]
Miss Lori points and shoots her vlog for Kodak Vlogger Challenge week 4
It’s week 4 of the Kodak Vlogger Challenge. This week I’m talking about how I actually capture my vlog. There was a time when I would edit my videos with an opening caption, underscoring, an occasional pop up window and closing credits. I enjoyed the process, it was a great learning process, but it took a lot of time. Less so as I got better at it, but still more time than I had ready at hand. So, I changed course and stopped shooting to edit, and started shooting to upload, with a finished product in mind. [Read more...]
Miss Lori needs to get back to Disney World
Ever since I got home from the Disney Social Media Moms Conference I have had a string of bad luck. Truthfully it actually started at the airport on the way home. First my son’s carry on bag broke. Ok, well there are lots of stores at the airport. In fact the Disney store was running a special; you get a great Disney carry on bag at a discount if you buy $20 worth of other merchandise. My girls get some souveniers, and my son gets the bag. Great! Except as soon as he filled the new bag up the zipper broke. Ok, that can happen. No biggy. The store exchanges it quickly and my son just has to take everything out, again, and put it into the 2nd new bag. Problem solved. Now I can finally pay for the items. But wait, my gift card from the conference came up as inactive. In-what! But it is brand new? It’s supposed to have money available on it. Ok. Whatever. We got so many nice things on this trip, no need to quibble, right?
We get home and there were a few more little issues that started to arise, like my garage door remote was missing from minivan, and my TV remote was missing from my bedroom. Well, that kind of thing happens all the time. Right? Nothing to fret about. I’ll just goto sleep after a long day of travel. Ugh, my Ikea bed is broken…again. Truth is I’m way too tired to worry about sleeping on a slope. Sleep on any angle is what’s most important.
Next day I wake up to serious chest congestion. Aww rubber nuggets. Well, I guess I could see that coming. I got barely any sleep all week in Orlando, plus it was cold and I had to fly on airplanes with lots of people coughing and sneezing. (Not to mention the fact that I have had my own wheezing cough since November). So…. Well, the Mommies don’t get to be sick. I’ll just muscle through. We know the drill. Gotta keep on keeping on. Well, maybe I can get on keeping on after one more hour of angled sleep. [Read more...]
