Miss Lori wants to use social media to bring depression out of the dark

A young woman attempts suicide and lands in the hospital. The next day she has a required meeting with the hospital Psychiatrist. He asks her, “Are you taking any medication?” She responds, “I was taking Xanax.” He then asks, “Why aren’t you taking it anymore?” The young woman replies, “I’m out.” [Read more...]

Miss Lori wants to see your friend wish granted by Trop50

When I was a little girl I had a lot of hopes and wishes, but my greatest wish, the one that stayed with me through all birthdays, holidays (and Wednesday’s for that matter), was to have a really good friend. Someone who I could trust and confide in. Someone who I could laugh with and cry with, walk with and talk with, oh and dance with. Dancing is very important. I had to wait a while. [Read more...]

Miss Lori wants you to win a 6 month supply of Tropicana Pure Premium OJ

Hello, my name is Miss Lori and I am a TropiMomma! I like the sound of that. It sounds like health. It sounds like wellness. In short it sounds good. Coincidentally my first official duty as a #TropiMomma is all about “good”, putting the “good” back in “morning” that is. [Read more...]

Miss Lori says AUTHENTICTY is the key to social media

Last year at the Social Media Master’s Summit, I spoke on a panel with some amazing ladies, Kim Moldofsky, Danielle Smith and Esther Crawford. We spoke in depth about brand and blogger relations. Looking through the footage, one clip jumped out at me. I think it contains a message that is especially important to hear as much of the blogging community prepares to go to Blogher 2011 in San Diego. I can sum it up in one word…AUTHENTICITY. Miss Lori is counting her 14 blessings of age 40 before her 41st birthday

For the year leading up to my 40th birthday I did a count down. Well, not actually a countdown more of a count up. I wasn’t intending to do anything big. And I wasn’t really doing it for anyone but myself. I was doing it because shortly after my 39th birthday I felt as though my life was blurring, or more specifically my days were blurring, blurring together. A run on sentence of days minutes and hours. So to combat that I started acknowledging each day on my facebook page. Day 1 of the year of 39. Day 12 of the year of 39. Day 145 of the year of 39. That’s all, nothing extravagant. Just a few words and number to separate each day from another. It didn’t stop all of my weeks from bleeding into the other, but it did help to change the way I looked at my life…at least I would like to think that it did. [Read more...]

Miss Lori is the task on So You Wanna Be A Designer this week

Television and the internet are dominated by reality programming these days. Although, I must admit I don’t watch reality tv on any regular basis. However, this week I am learning about reality shows from the inside out, thanks to my friends at Kenmore. [Read more...]

Miss Lori offers five suggestions for a tweetup without wifi

I have written about how to throw an AWESOME social media event, but that was predicated on having ample wifi. But what do you do when you want to hold a social media inspired event at a location that doesn’t have a good signal or any signal at all available? That is a problem some facilities are struggling with. Most businesses, particularly vacation businesses, understand the need to be in the social media webisphere, but some structures haven’t been able to catch up technologically just yet. Does that mean that they should stay out of the tweet up business? Not necessarily. You just have to be a little creative with your set up. Here’s a list of my top 5 suggestions: [Read more...]

Miss Lori wants to be the first Mamavation Success story for 2011

When I was young all I ever truly wanted to be was a mother. Not a famous actress, not a multi-million dollar business woman, a MOM. I thought, and still think, it’s the most important and rewarding role I could ever play. I am proud to be a mother three times over. I thank the universe every day that I have the chance to help my kids chart their course in this World. I try to do everything I can for them, and I do. Well almost everything.
