Miss Lori gets high city gas mileage and a low carbon footrpint in the Chevy Tahoe Hybrid

Going into this week I knew what a Chevy was. I knew what a Tahoe was. But I wasn’t exactly sure what a Hybrid was. And I most definitely was not sure how a hybrid would work. So, I pulled out the manual and educated myself. With just a few pages of reading I realized that my Chevy Tahoe Hybrid was equipped to show me what I needed to know, in real time. [Read more...]

Miss Lori is on the open road in a Chevy Tahoe Hybrid

As a mother I spend most of my time in a car. No, really, I actually tallied it up one year. I spend more hours in my car then I do sleeping. (Well, that’s not counting the time I spend sleeping in my car, but that’s another story.) That is why it is so important to me to profile cars so that families can experience their options vicariously through me and my kids before they make a decision to buy or lease themselves.

This week I am driving a Chevy Tahoe Hybrid.

Miss Lori works to make depression an issue and not a legacy

“Mommy, I have the same illness you have.”

“You have a cold honey?”

“Yes, but I also have depression.” [Read more...]

Miss Lori reviews Chicago Shakespeare’s short production of Macbeth

As many of you know I have been an actress since I was a child. Before becoming known for my work with children I worked on many stages across the country, and here in Chicago. One stage, however, that I never got a chance to work on when I was a “practicing actress” is The Chicago Shakespeare Stage at Navy Pier. Nonetheless, I have had the great fortune to enjoy the stage from the house as an audience member. Not alone, but with the best theatre dates I can think of… my children. [Read more...]

Chicago post blizzard streets are no match for Miss Lori and a Chevy Cruze

Did you hear about the Chicago blizzard of 2011? Oh it was just a couple of flurries…Yeah right! It was HUGE! Once the winds settled it was time for the Chicago to dig out. Some had a bigger job than others. [Read more...]

Miss Lori is Musing from a Chevy Cruze this week

I have traded in my minivan keys for the key to GM’s new Chevy Cruze this week. The car was delivered on the first Chicago Public School snow day in twelve years! Needless to say I didn’t get to take it out for a spin right away. But once the snow stopped falling it was back to the business of life for me and my family, and that meant bundling up and off for school, (much to my children’s chagrin). [Read more...]

Miss Lori had a terrifical time at the new family movie Ramona and Beezus

Yesterday my show in Romeoville got rained out and I was suddenly left with a free day. The idea of spending it in my pajama’s dozing was extremely appealing to me, but not so much to my children who were getting antsy already at 830am. So instead of lying around we quickly got ourselves together and headed up to the Evanston Century Theatre to join MJ Tam, Nancy Loo and some of the Chicago Moms for a screening of the new movie Ramona and Beezus, sponsored by Tide with Acti-lift. I am so glad we did!

Ramona and Beezus was easily the nicest family movie I have seen in longer than I can actually remember. [Read more...]

Miss Lori says the movie The Spy Next Door is safe for your kids.

My children and I, plus two other families, had the great fortune to go and see a pre-screening of the movie The Spy Next Door. (I received free tickets through my association with ChicagoMomsblog.com, and I also won several through MomsLikeMe.com Win It Weekend.) We had 10 kids in tow, ages 7-12, and 3 Moms. A very diverse group. First off I can tell you that we all enjoyed ourselves. No painful groans at the end of the movie. No whining wanting to know, “Why did you drag me to see this?!” Everyone came out of the movie happy that we went in. It was kid safe, it was funny, and it was the right length.

For many parents I know that?s absolutely all you need to hear. So you don?t have to read any further. Just gather your kids and head to the theatre when the movie opens January 15. End of story.

For others of you who have an interest in an artistic review, here we go.
