Miss Lori has 6 proposal suggestions for social media influencers pitching to brands

Social Media Influence on consumers is becoming more and more relevant with consumers and not just hype. Which means more influencers will be working with brands than ever before in 2012.  If you haven’t pitched a brand before, chances are you will this year. But before you do that you will need to make sure you know who you are. (Refer to my earlier post about researching yourself here.) Once you know who you are you can formulate a plan for your brand pitch. Here are my six top suggestions to get you going.

Miss Lori says AUTHENTICTY is the key to social media

Last year at the Social Media Master’s Summit, I spoke on a panel with some amazing ladies, Kim Moldofsky, Danielle Smith and Esther Crawford. We spoke in depth about brand and blogger relations. Looking through the footage, one clip jumped out at me. I think it contains a message that is especially important to hear as much of the blogging community prepares to go to Blogher 2011 in San Diego. I can sum it up in one word…AUTHENTICITY. Miss Lori wants Vloggers to take ACTION on video

Social Media is the place to be. By now everyone is aware of that. The key influencers on the web have distinct voices that have inspired loyal followings, but the game is changing again. No longer are influencers allowed to live in the shadow of their computer. They have to step into the key light and face the camera. This isn’t an easy transition for everyone. Part of the empowering allure of social media was the social interaction sans the pressure of face to face interaction. But we are a visual society. We love pictures, especially when they are moving. So influencers who want to stay influential must integrate video into their stream. When I was speaking at the 2011 Midwest Moms Media Brands and Bloggers Conference I asked the audience how many were interested in video for their sites. Many people raised their hands. However, when next I asked how many people were uncomfortable seeing themselves on camera, even more hands went sky high. Vlogging and interviewing does not have to be terrifying, and they won’t be if you take “A.C.T.I.O.N.”. [Read more...]

Miss Lori is ready for her birthday

When I started writing these posts about my blessings and wishes for my birthday I thought they would basically be a glorified shopping list, not to be crass. I truly wanted to take time to acknowledge my year with my blessings, but my wishes, well I thought they would be what most of us list as wishes for birthdays. But the process of writing them, of searching my brain for ideas resulted in some soul searching…some self truths if you will.

Miss Lori is at 12 days and counting of her birthday blessings and wishes

There are twelve more days until my 41st birthday. For the last 14 days of my year of forty I am counting down my blessings and counting up my wishes. I’ve already posted number 14 and number 13.  Here is Number 12.

My whole life one of my greatest personal difficulties has been letting go. (As in I couldn’t, or didn’t, or wouldn’t, or …well, you get the idea.) Things that would happen to me, from slights to full on assaults would haunt me day in and day out. (More the latter.) I didn’t let those ghostly indiscretions keep me from moving forward in my life,  at least not obviously. I am a trained actress you know. But they did slow me down. I especially see that now, as I look back down my path from childhood to here. I now realize that the remnants of events past were blinding me to better choices for me in my future, and I didn’t even realize it. [Read more...]
